Titanium dioxide, also known as titania, is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium, chemical formula TiO2. Approved by the food testing laboratory of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Titanium Dioxide is considered a safe substance and harmless to human.

The use of titanium dioxide is very common in our daily lives. Titanium dioxide is white powder, traditionally used mainly as white pigment, and has been applied to wide range of uses such as paint, cosmetics, toothpaste, dental material, raw material for porcelain, synthetic resin, fiber, paper
manufacturing, rubber, condenser, etc. It has also been used as food additive for white chocolate, sugar-coated sweets, chewing gums, etc., being absolutely harmless for living beings. There are three forms to crystallized titanium dioxide, rutile, anatase and brookite, among them anatase most generally used as photocatalyst, its catalytic activity being the highest.
